Pops Outreach Program

Expanding POPS Outreach to Area Young People

With Friends' support, Pops musicians have embarked on an ambitious program of in-class performances and demonstrations for students in regional schools. This effort, acclaimed by teachers, instills in young people an appreciation for the wonderful heritage of good music at our Music Pier. It also provides professional role-models for students who may be considering careers in music.

The expanded outreach, through funding provided by the Scheible Encore Society, also includes Friends-sponsored music competitions for high school students and the awarding of scholarships to talented youngsters. Future endeavors will bring more school children to full orchestra concerts in Ocean City and establish exciting collaborations with such disciplines as theater, film, opera and dance

85th Anniversary

SAY Scholarship Winner

Winner of the SAY Scholarship is Kameron Ghanavati - Ocean City High School

Kameron with Bob Snodgrass

Kameron is a recent graduate of Ocean City High School. He began his studies in music privately with Robert Snodgrass in Ocean City, New Jersey. During high school, Kameron's enthusiasm for music became stronger, thanks to the help of Ms. Leah Getz and Mrs. Donna Schwartz. Because of their extreme dedication to the music within the High School, Kameron became inspired to become a teacher as well and provide the same feeling for his students one day. Kameron will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall where he will study classical voice with Dr. Blake Smith and major in Music Education. Kameron would like to thank his elementary school music teacher for the opportunity to begin his studies in music at such a young age. Furthermore, he would like to thank the OC Pops for their generous donation and his parents for their undying support throughout the years
